Sorry for the break

I took a break from blogging and making videos again.  It was needed to focus on my college work and my kids.  But once again, I have come back.  Make up is my passion.  I love playing with it and trying new brands and looks.  I just cannot stay away!  I will try not to take such a long break again in the future.  I will have a new video up this week as well!

Thank you all for sticking with me this long!

I love essential oils!!!!

I have recently discovered essential oils, and I have fallen in love!  Over the course of the winter my family has not gotten sick!  We have had ONE minor cold each and that was it!    I am so blown away by how essential oils have changed our lives.

My oldest son has ADHD and some learning disabilities, the medicine the doctors had him on was not helping in any aspect. In fact they were making him depressed.  A 12 year old should not be depressed!  Since learning about essential oils we were able to take him off the medication, he now uses the oils to help him focus on his school work, and the best part, we can see him coming out of the depression!

Minor cuts and scraps can now be treated with some lavender or  melaluca oil.  Pain can be treated with Deep blue or frankincense, instead of Motrin.  All in all our family is becoming less dependent  on pharmaceuticals, which is a great thing!

Products I Currently Love

I wanted to share the products that I am currently loving.  These are the ones that I am just reaching for more than any of the rest of the ones I have.  If you as me next month, my answers might be slightly different, but right this moment these are my favorites.

For Primer there are two that I switch between depending on if I want a more matte finish or a natural finish.  I love the Korres antiageing primer for my natural finish and the Maybelline Baby skin for a more matte finish.  The baby skin is a perfect dupe for Benefit's The Porefessional at a fraction of the cost too!

For foundation I am loving Loreal's Infallible Pro-matte 24hr foundation.  I love the matte finish on this!  I have fairly dry skin and usually shy away from a matte finish, but this does not leave my face looking dry and flaky like so many others do.   I am in the lightest shade, I believe its Classic Ivory.

I have two for concealers.  The first one isn't technically a concealer, but it does wonders to brighten up your under eye area, de-puff and provide a bit of coverage.  I am talking about First aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy of course.  This is  a recent purchase for me but has quickly become a favorite!.  The next one is Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind.  I find this covers up my dark circles without caking and provides long lasting coverage as well.

Next we move on to eyebrows!  I am loving my Anastasia perfect brow pencil.  I use the color soft brown.  I had been using a powder brow product but it was too flaky, I find that the pencil is perfect for my dry skin!

I have fallen back in love with my Naked 3 pallet, and have been using it almost every day this year.  The colors are perfect for a soft day look, but you can really amp it up for a sultry date night look as well!

I narrowed my favorite eyeliners down to three.  Rimmel Scandaleyes in nude for my waterline, Urban decay 24/7 in the darkest black color they have and Benefits Push-up liner.  The push-up liner is probably my favorite one.  It makes applying a cat eye super easy.

Mascara.  Its hard to believe, but I only have two mascara's in my makeup collection right now!  They are both by Tarte, Lights camera Splashes and Lights camera Flashes.  I love both equally but use the Splashes when I am in need of a water proof mascara!

I am loving my Ulta blush.  Sadly the sticker came off the bottom and I do not know what shade it is.  I also LOVE Benefits Watts up highlighter.  I have never gotten so many complements on my make up until I started using it!

My favorite lip products!  For a classic red lip I use Younique's Lip liner in Primal and top it with a clear gloss. Seriously the best red I have ever found!  For a nice pinky nude I have been enjoying the Sephora matte gloss in nude. And for a nice corally pink I have been using an Ulta balm stick. (again, this does not have a shade listed on it)

Lastly my favorite nail polish!  I love all Essie polishes but I have to say that Trophy Wife is my all time favorite color!

Let me know in the comments what your favorite products are!

In case you missed it I posted 2 videos in the last week!  When we moved we didn't have internet for 4 months, on the tail end of that I had my shoulder surgery.  Now I am back to feeling like myself, I am able to put my makeup on and do all the girly things again!  So here are the videos, for your viewing pleasure!

What would you like to see reviewed?

I am making a trip to both Ulta and Sephora very soon.  What products would you like to see reviewed?  I am also going to be starting my videos again!  I will be filming this afternoon in fact!  After we moved we did not have internet for 4 months and then I had my shoulder surgery!  I am finally back to a place where I feel good all the time so its time to get back into it!  I cannot promise a posting schedule yet but I am hoping for 1-2 videos a week!  I purchased a vanity yesterday and my wonderful husband got it put together for me.  I just need to get the rest of our bedroom sorted out and then I will ready to go!

So what sort of content would you all be wanting to see?

Plum Paper Planner 2015

I love planners, and this year I got a Plum Paper Planner!  I am so in love with this planner!  The cover was personalized and I got to pick so much of the lay out.  There are 4 layout options, and I added in extra note paper, a blog planning section and a home based business planning section.

The cover

The monthly view
And a monthly view that I have started planning on.  I like to add washi tape and stickers and what not to make it personal.

The weekly spread, this has four options, but this is the one I chose.
And the weekly spread that I have started planning on.  Again using washi tape and stickers.
This is the blog planning section. There are 6 double sided pages, so one page for each month, an income tracking sheet, a sheet for post ideas, a sheet for blog stats, 2 pages of to-do list, 2 pages for advertising and sponsors, 2 pages for giveaways and reviews, and a 2 page annual blog planner.
The at home business section has 6 double sided monthly overview pages, 1 page for each month of the year,12 double sided party planning pages, 1 to do list, 1 monthly tasks page, 3 pages of mileage trackers6 pages for contacts,  and 4 pages for tracking expenses.

I really love this planner and would purchase it again.  The etsy shop had a 3-4 week turn around but it shipped off right at 3 weeks and I got it three days after it shipped.  The price was great too, much cheaper then some of the other customizable planners on the market.

Master Bathroom update!

As many of you know my family moved to a new house late July.  Over the weekend we finally settled on a theme for the master bathroom (hello, only 6 months later!)  Here is the house tour I did before they finished our house:

This gives you an idea of how the bathroom looked before.  Pretty much it was empty.  We had a clear plastic shower curtain on the shower and that was the extent of our decor.  So here is the new updated bathroom.  Of course its not totally finished but this is a great start!

The shower curtain, I am totally in love with this!  There are crystals all over it!
The for show towels as well as chest that holds my make up.
If you are wondering about my makeup chest, here is the video I posted last year about it, the location has changed but the items inside are pretty much the same!.

These are the awesome bath mats!  I love these!

These are the details that I fell in love with at the store.  I mean how cute are these?  The little round box holds cotton pads and the cup holds my qtips. The white dress is soap pump and the pink dress is a toothbrush holder.
The hand towels, there are two of these, one on either side of the vanity.
And lastly, the ridiculously adorable garbage can.  Really you cant get much more adorable then this!
There are still some more things that I would love to get, some pictures for the wall and some cute things for around my tub!  Thanks for reading!

Jan Ipsy bag!

January Ipsy bag came in today!  I have to say that I really love this one!  The bag is two toned, blue and white.

Inside the bag time!

~First up was a sample of Eco-Beauty by La Fresh Group. good day day moisturizer.  I will try this one tomorrow morning.
~Pacifica eye shadow in ethereal. This is a beautiful champagne color.
~Hikari eye liner in storm, which is a charcoal color.  This is really creamy and goes really well with the eyeshadow!
~Velvet 59 by Paris Manning Lip gloss in Noisette.  This shows pretty dark in the tube and picture but its a great nude color, again it pairs well with they eyeshadow and liner.
~And lastly an eyeshadow brush by Elizabeth Mott.  I really like this brush.  It is very soft and applies shadow well.

This bag was such a hit that all of these products (minus the moisturizer sample) have made there way into my purse makeup bag to live!  I really do love them all!

Mortal Instruments Review!!!

I have just finished reading book three of six in the Mortal Instruments series! I am so in love with this series. So far, there are Shadow hunters, or Nephilim, they are the good guys who hunt down and kill the demons. The books also feature, warlocks, vampires, faeries, and werewolves. Clary Fray is the main character who grew up thinking she was normal, until one day she meets Jace. He is the shadowhunter boy who turns her life around. At one point they find out they are actually brother and sister, after developing a love interest in each other. By the end of book three however, we find that they are not brother and sister, but that Clary's father was experimenting with her Jace and another boy, her real brother, when they were all very little. This story has love, adventure, danger, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I cannot wait to finish out the series. Oh and they have made book one, City of Bones into a movie as well. I highly recommend watching that after you read the series!

I Gave my Blog a Facelift

It was time to give this blog a face lift. I am so much more then just beauty. I want to incorporate book reviews, and talk about geeky things like Dr. Who or Star Trek, (yes I am a geek) I love coffee, there is just so much more to life! There will still be some beauty posts, but there will be so much more to come in terms of new content! I just finished book 3 in a 6 book series and I cant wait to do a review on that for you guys, although I am sure I am late to the party in reading it!.

I have a neat reading list for this year. I hope that I can get through it! Although I am certain that I can!

Anyways, new year, new me, new blog!

The Great Pixie Grow Out: 8 weeks

I have made it to 8 weeks! I have not cut my hair in 8 full weeks! This is the longest time since I got my pixie cut in February that I have gone without getting a trim! I would have to say that my hair has grown around 2 to 2.5 inches in 8 weeks! I am super excited for that growth! I am still taking the Hair skin nails vitamins by Itworks. I am washing my hair 2x a week with a natural shampoo and conditioner and once a week I do a coconut oil mask.
